قال الرئيس الموريتاني محمد ولد عبد العزيز إن الذين يطالبون بمأمورية ثالثة له في حكم موريتانيا ملزمون بالتصويت الكثيف لحزب الإتحاد من أجل الجمهورية من أجل حصوله على أغلبية برلمانية مريحة يستطيع من خلالها تمرير التعديلات ومشاريع القوانين الضرورية لذلك.

 وتكشف هذه التصريحات بحسب مراقبين جزءا من السر المتعلق بالانغماس الرسمي في الحملات الجارية والدعوة الصريحة من فخامة رئيس الجمهورية لخصوم الحزب الحاكم بالتخلي عن لوائحهم في الاحزاب الاخرى ودعم الحزب الحاكم..

كما تفسر هذه التصريحات جزءا مما استشكل على الناس بخصوص مستقبل النظام القائم وسيناريوهات بقاء النظام الحالي في السلطة  رغم ان الدستور الموريتاني يعطي للرئيس ماوريتين فقط لاثالثة لهما..
